Thank you for your interest in my music lessons. Here you will find information
regarding my teaching style, curriculum, and payment schedule.
My teaching style
is what I like to call “balanced discipline.” I aim for the middle ground where
music lessons are serious enough to provide structured academic discipline while
allowing room for the student to develop and have an enjoyable learning experience.
I teach in the traditional style. A traditional music method simply means that the
curriculum consist of note reading, rhythm training, ear training and developing
instrumental skills that are normally applied to violin and piano. Methods and music
used in the lessons are based on compositions and techniques from mainstream pedagogical
traditions. Depending on age and level, the amount of instruction to each discipline
will vary. Some lessons will have fundamental theory, conducting, music history,
and technique exercises added to their lesson time. Please inquire about these additives
if you would like to include them in your lesson.
Normally, the earliest age for
music lessons is 5 to 6 years of age. However, sometimes a child can start at three-years-old.
A child is ready for music lessons when they are able to focus and concentrate on
a task for at least 30 minutes. They should also be familiar with the first seven
letters of the alphabet (A, B, C, D, E, F and G) and count numbers 1 – 5.
Lessons meet once a week. They are conducted at your house, and are scheduled at a mutually
convenient time. I generally stay in the Boca Ratonarea Boca Music School Mon-Sat.
(Some areas of Delray, Lighthouse Point, Parkland, and Coconut Creek may be accommodated.)
Due to a full schedule, it might take a few weeks to be placed on my route. Once
a time is allotted for you, your weekly lesson will be at that time. Cancellations
and make-ups should be given at least 24 hours before the lesson. Last minute cancellations
or failure to cancel will result in payment.
